IPMS NEW JERSEY |
|
We meet at 7:30pm on the 2nd Friday of each month at the
Knights of Columbus hall on South Ave. in Garwood, NJ (across from the Pathmark), accessible from the GSP exit 137. New Jersey
IPMS is a club of modelers who get together once a month to trade ideas on modeling and basically have fun.
We
have a monthly, informal contest within our club. Membership dues are 25$ a year or 3$ per meeting. Our biggest event is what
we lovingly call Mosquitocon. This is our biggest contest of the year and we also invite hobby retailers to come in and sell
their goods at a special show price. We have had contestants from the hinterlands of NJ, PA, NY and as far away as VA and
MASS.
During our meetings we talk about the latest news from kit manufacturers, we also have informal classes
to keep our skills sharp and maybe learn a thing or two. Our members run the gambit of modeling, we have armor, aircraft,
automobile, sci-fi, figures and ship modelers. Our skill level runs from beginner to expert and all levels in between. We
also like to support our community by getting involved with various projects that are happening locally. We have been actively
supporting the efforts of the Battleship New Jersey Foundation, both with donations from the club and building replicas of
New Jersey. We have done shows for New Jersey’s Liberty Science Center, The Intrepid Air and Space Museum and various
airshows. Most of all we are just a bunch of modelers who get together once a month to have fun talking about modeling and
meeting with friends, so come on and join us.

15 years, was the Chapter of the Year for Region 2 in 1990 and 97, and for all of IPMS/USA for 1990. The chapter boasts

Monthly meetings feature a contest with
categories for models by juniors (17 and under), cars, aircraft, military vehicles, figures, space and science fiction, miscellaneous

had precision bombing contest and carrier landing contests!
Numerous vendors are present at each meeting
and usually have their wares for sale beginning at 6:30 p.m.
As a rule we meet the first Wednesday
of every month (unless it falls on a holiday). During the winter months, if the venue is closed due to inclement weather,
our meetings are also canceled. Always check this website for the latest meeting information.
Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and are concluded

IPMS RICHMOND
IPMS Richmond is a sanctioned charter club of IPMS USA. IPMS USA is the US national organization
of the International Plastic Modelers society founded by Jim Sage, of Dallas, Texas, in 1963. There are now branches of IPMS
all over the world. Many of the Local Chapters and Regions sponsor Model shows and contests every year. Of course, you needn't
be a member to just visit the shows, or attend the clubs. But if you do become a member you will receive The Modeler's Journal
six times a year as part of your IPMS/USA Membership. In it you will find stories of interest on subjects such as aircraft,
armor, automotive, ships, figures, you name it. You will also find listings of IPMS contests and swap meets, hints and tips,
and reviews. Membership also qualifies you to participate in IPMS/USA sanctioned Regional Contests, as well as our World-famous
National Convention, held each summer. As a member, you'll also be able to access our online Member's Forum where a wide variety
of Society and Modeling topics are discussed, and enjoy real-time access to other Modelers for help with questions about Modeling
or the Society in general. In addition, many Hobby Shops around the county offer discounts to IPMS/USA Members.

IPMS ROANOKE VALLEY
The first meeting of the Roanoke Valley Chapter of
the International Plastic Modelers Society was held on Thursday, August 26, 1993. Many ideas were discussed for the future
of the club. Everyone agreed that the time was right for an IPMS chapter in Roanoke and that it could be a big benefit
to plastic modelers in Southwest Virginia. Contests, Group trips, Swap Meets and Demos were just some of the things mentioned
as activities we might tackle.
The numbers were low but the spirits were high of those attending. Dues, Club Charter, By Laws, and officers were started
and appointed. The rest is history.
Meetings are
the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the Month, 7:00pm, Roanoke Valley Science Museum 5th Floor.

IPMS TIDEWATER
IPMS
Tidewater is a chapter chartered under the International Plastic Modeling Society (IPMS) –
USA.
Our goal is too
cultivate an interest in the hobby of plastic modeling and support those that already do. As part of this effort we as a club
continually endeavor to provide to our members the techniques, information, data, and any other form of assistance
we can to help each person raise their knowledge, awareness and workmanship.
IPMS Tidewater has been meeting as a club since 1965 and has a long and distinguished history. Our strength is
our openness – newcomers and guests are always welcome. Another strength
of our club is the willingness of our members to share our skills with the other members of the club and guests alike. You
will find us diverse in our interests and modeling skills. Our collective interests include the modeling of aircraft, armor,
automobiles, figures, and ships. We boast quite a few nationally and internationally recognized modelers, some of whom have
done professional work including models for film and television.

IPMS / WASHINGTON CHAPTER
|
Do you like to build plastic models of airplanes, cars,
armor, figures or ships? Do you read modeling magazines and wonder where there are others like yourself who enjoy this
creative and relaxing hobby? Have you ever wished for a chance to show your work to other modelers and exchange ideas
and techniques?
Well, then - have we got good news for you! We're the
Washington, DC Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society. Our members range from beginners to expert who've
enjoyed this hobby for over 30 years. Whether you consider yourself a beginner or an experienced modeler, and no matter
what your interests in model subjects might be, we are for you!
We hold a meeting each month to allow model builders such
as yourself to get together with people from all walks of life who have one common bond - they enjoy building scale models. Our
meetings include a contest for modelers to display their work and compete with others. We also spend time discussing
all the latest modeling news and hold a raffle of donated kits. During each meeting there is a special program. Sometimes
it may be a guest speaker who provides current information and historical perspective on our modeling subjects (past speakers
have been famous authors, war veterans, and museum curators). Other times we have basic and advanced techniques demonstrations,
or maybe a slide show of subjects related to modeling (such as military aircraft or race cars). There are also private
vendors who attend the meeting and sell rare kits and books.
What our members get out of this chapter is as varied as
the members themselves. Some get the satisfaction of competing for awards at Regional and National Conventions, and,
indeed, our chapter has sponsored such events in the past. Other modelers enjoy working on chapter programs and displays. We
have models on display in hobby shops and in such places as the National Air & Space Museum and the Navy Yard Museum in
Washington.
Chapter members have given modeling demonstrations in places
such as the Garber Aircraft Restoration Facility at Silver Hill, MD.
We do not charge admission or dues for our monthly meetings. Everyone is welcome to attend. We encourage membership in
the National IPMS, but we do not require membership for you to participate in
our meetings. In short, we don't ask you to join anything except us for a good time each month! The least you'll
get out of it is a chance to improve your enjoyment of the hobby by learning new skills and information, as well as making
new friends who are modelers like yourself and who speak your language! So come to a meeting, bring a model you've built
or one you're working on now, and join the fun. If anyone else in your family builds models, then have them bring one
as well. And remember - you like to build plastic models: You are not alone!
Meetings are the 3rd Tuesday of the Month, 8:00pm, Cabin
John Middle Sch, Rockville MD
