REGION 2 CONVENTION RULES
The contest is open to ALL modelers. IPMS membership is not required. If you are not
a member, we definitely encourage you to join. Absentee entries are permitted and should be entered in the absentee's
name. Models are entered solely at the entrant's risk. IPMS/Roanoke, IPMS/USA, The Rail Yard Hobby Shop, the judges,
and the Roanoke Civic Center assume NO liability or responsibility for loss or damage to any model. Entry into the contest
is regarded as agreement to these terms.
1. Each entry must be constructed completely by the registrant named
on the entry form. You may not enter additional models after you have registered and entered the display area.
2. Models may be displayed on a base of reasonable size. Bases
will not be judged in any category except Dioramas. Any entry, which by virtue of its base or setting, depicts a story
or theme, must be entered in a Diorama category. If you have an unusually LARGE entry you MUST contact one of the names
above before August 31st so as to have adequate table space available. Failure to do so may result in unavailable table
space for your model.
3. The Contest Registration Committee will assist in determining
an entry's class at the time of registration. However, the final determination rests with the HEAD JUDGE. The
decision of the HEAD JUDGE is FINAL. Categories may be combined or split at the decision of the HEAD JUDGE.
4. Any attempt by the builder to influence the judge's decision
will result in disqualification of all entries by that modeler.
5. To be eligible for the "Shoot-Out Club Award" points, the name
of your respective IPMS chapter MUST be written on your entry form or NO points will be awarded for that particular model.
6. The contest/convention is open to all models EXCEPT for those
that have won any 1st, 2nd or 3rd place award at any IPMS National Convention. A display table will be available for
such fine work.
7. The Head Judge will be from IPMS/Roanoke. All of the Category
Head Judges will be from other IPMS chapters and modeling clubs.
8. In the Automotive Categories, Slammer & Curbside, models
may not display an engine. Displaying engines in these classes defeats the purpose of these categories.
9. For Out-of Box awards: Any aftermarket decals may be used or
insignias or markings may be hand painted. Bare-Metal foil is considered a decal. IPMS/USA "Out-of-Box" rules
will apply here fully. Instructions should be made available for the judges to look at if need be.
